Where am I working?
JPMorgan Chase has begun the process of thoughtfully returning more of our employees to office buildings and opened many US sites on May 17th. Employees have begun to return on a voluntary basis. We anticipate that by July most teams in Technology will be working in a hybrid model (e.g. some days per week in a location and the other days at home). Each business is working through the details to align with the needs of the firm, our clients, and our employees. Please monitor your email for specific guidance on onsite work expectations. The guidance will vary based on office location and you will be hearing from the SEP program management team as well as individual managers.
Our Return to the Office (RTTO) Task Force, which includes business leaders and representatives from Real Estate, Amenity Services, Technology, Global Security, Human Resources and Communications is guiding and assisting each location as more employees return, following these key principles:
We will continue to reopen following health authority and government guidelines and our own established processes, including pausing or reversing returns with the safety of our employees as a priority.
We will continue to practice our health and safety protocols, including our high standards of cleaning and air filtration, social distancing, mask and daily health check requirements.
We will continue to provide information and resources to help employees get vaccinated, and encourage them to do so, because we know that getting vaccinated means less risk of spreading the virus to families, friends and colleagues.

Engineer Spotlight

Allie
Software Engineer Program, Wilmington
Get to know one of us! Meet Alexandra "Allie" Wiener.
I graduated from the University of Delaware in 2019 with a degree in cognitive science. The summer before my Senior year I interned at JPMC. I was part of The Global Enterprise Technology (GET) Immersion Internship experience, which is an extended 6-month work experience. I was able to continue my internship at JPMC during my Fall Semester Senior year and receive credits toward my degree. After having such an incredible internship experience, I decided to join the firm full time as a member of the Tech Connect / SEP class of 2019. In my spare time, I love hiking and reading. I also love traveling and I am looking forward to when it is safe to travel again.
When I started at the University of Delaware, I wanted to be a Speech Pathologist and pursued a major in Cognitive Science with a focus in pre speech pathology. Early in college I joined this amazing on-campus club called AMT (Assistive Medical Technologies) where we built assistive affordable medical technologies for people in the community. Through the club, I was exposed to coding and began to learn how to code. Junior year I decided to move the focus of my major to Mathematics and Computers. I ended up graduating with a major in Cognitive Science with a focus in Mathematics and Computers.
Tech Connect is a program through JPMC for recent college graduates who did not who do not have a background in computer science or coding, but have a clear passion for working in technology. It’s a coding boot camp leads into the Software Engineering Program. Tech Connect gave me the foundation and confidence to become a Software Developer. I had the opportunity to meet great people in the program and we all worked together and supported each other through the bootcamp. Now I have these lifelong friendships and an amazing network.
I work in Consumer & Community Banking Technology as a Software Developer on the Digital Marketing Team. My team supports the Web Content Management Systems that drive the JPMorgan Chase public facing internet properties. We work closely with all JPMorgan Chase lines of businesses to provide consistent, integrated internet applications that are intuitive, dependable and easy to use for our customers. As a developer on the team, I help build and roll out these functionalities through AEM, which is a content management solution for building websites, mobile apps and forms. My team and I use Java and Spring Boot framework to write the backend, and use HTML, CSS, and Java Script for the front end.
SEP is such an incredible program. JPMC really invests in your success and provides you with comprehensive trainings, experiences and a network to help you. My advice is to take advantage of all the opportunities being offered. Attend all of the virtual trainings and tech labs. Step up and volunteer for events outside of your day to day role. Build your network by setting up time to get to know different people within the firm. JPMC has such amazing employees, and everyone is excited to meet with you and share their experiences. Make sure to take time to get to know the people in your SEP class, because those friendships will last a lifetime. Do not be afraid to ask questions and it’s okay if you make a mistake. Asking questions is the quickest way to learn, and being able to explain it back to a coworker or someone else in the program is the best way to solidify your knowledge.
