Smart Start Program

You’ll learn the skills needed for a successful career in financial services while working part time during the school year and full time during the summer. Each year, you’ll rotate to another area of the firm as you expand your knowledge, learn about the variety of roles in financial services and build the foundation for your future career. And you’ll do all this on a full four-year scholarship to an approved college or university.

Valued qualities

We are looking for talented, ambitious students who live in and attend high school in New York City with strong academic credentials. You must have an interest in financial services as well as the discipline to simultaneously pursue your education and work in a fast-paced environment. We’re looking for intellectually curious students with strong analytical minds who excel working in teams and have solid communication skills. You should be flexible, adaptable, detail oriented, have good judgment and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.

On-the-job experience

You’ll work in one of our businesses or corporate functions, where you’ll be assigned meaningful projects, attend meetings and interact with managers. You’ll gain insights into the industry, while developing your technical and soft skills. With more than 300 alumni of the program still working at JPMorgan Chase, you’ll have the support of an extensive network to help guide you.

Career Progression

Program managers will help you identify opportunities within the firm that match your interests and skills. We’ll also help you get ready for the formal recruiting process. Many of our graduates enter a full time analyst program after graduation.
