What’s the biggest motivation behind your application for the Singapore Apprenticeship Program?

I’ve been told on multiple accounts by parents and lecturers alike that it takes more than just an educational qualification to stand out in today’s job environment. Not only would the program meet the experience I was looking for, being such a reputable firm, I knew there would be so much for me to learn from.

What is your favorite moment of the apprenticeship so far?

My favourite moment as an apprentice, and one of my favourite things about work still - is grabbing coffee with my colleagues! Some of the best conversations I’ve had, both surrounding work and my personal life have been over a coffee or meal with a colleague.

Is there a personal achievement that you are most proud of?

My greatest achievement of 2021 has got to be my successful transition into a permanent role here at J.P. Morgan! It’s something I’ve been working towards since the start of my apprenticeship, and I’m proud to finally see it come to fruition after a year.

Was there any initial hesitation prior to submitting your application and what made you apply?

I did hesitate at first when I was applying for the program as I was considering going back to school for a full-time degree. I was worried I was not going to be able to give my best efforts having to juggle both my studies and work. However, I decided to give it a shot and go for a part-time degree instead. Now, I make sure to pace myself and manage my time wisely, prioritizing on those deadlines that are near.

What is your favorite moment of the apprenticeship so far?

I would say that the transition into work life has been made easier with the help of friends made from the program. With this strong support system, it makes going to work a thing to look forward to. I have to say that J.P. Morgan so far has had one of the best support systems – from colleagues as well as the fellow apprentices.

What are your plans to further your career?

My plan is to continue to work in the financial industry. I think this program serves as a great stepping stone from school and provides me with a great perspective on the industry. The experiences I gain from this program will also serve me well in the future.
